At our last crop, Liz showed me how to make a lovely card with the bottom section folded to form a little box to hold tealight candles. I made a template and finally found time this weekend to have a go at making one.
I embossed the background cardstock with Cuttlebug snow flurry embossing folder, the sentiment is Stampin'Up, the image is by Penny Black from the T for transparent set 'Christmas Friends'.
I am entering this card/candle box into the following challenges -
Penny Black and more @ allsorts - All creatures great and small
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Christmas, red and embossing
The Ribbon Girl Blog - Jingle all the way to Christmas
The Ribbon Girl blog has a lovely blog giveaway at the moment to win a Kaisercraft wooden reindeer and Christmas embellishments.

Shimelle's 6x4 love - October
Just done the October page for this month's challenge and that means using 10 photographs. I did mine as a double page layout instead of the back to back layout that Shimelle did and I used (like I did for previous months) photographs from my recent cruise to Greenland and Iceland. I have enjoyed doing these layouts using loads of photographs, as it means I can use more of my holiday photographs rather than just selecting a few good ones.
I used Sarah's Cards May kit - MME Stella & Rose (Mabel) - I have loved this kit and just have scraps left now.
The photos are from a little wander around Reykjavik that I did with my parents on our free day there.
The left hand side -
The right hand side -
The title was done using AC thickers - they were white but I coloured them with Promarkers to match the layout better. I also coloured the clear gemstones on the punched butterflies with Promarkers too.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - week 178
This week the challenge at PBSC is still on a Christmas theme and is Green & Trees.
I made this card but it was a pig to photograph because of all the glitter - there really should be a glitter setting on cameras LOL!!
The patterned paper is Stampin' Up and the sentiment is Wild Rose Studio stamped onto a SU sticker. The stars were punched using a small Woodware punch. I glittered the tree with eucalyptus stickles and the stars and snows were done with a glue pen and ultrafine glitter.
I coloured the image using Promarkers - still getting to grips with these as they are very different to using my watercolour pencils.

Meet the family
My family are a little bit odd, a bit of a cross between the Munsters and the Adams Family.
The Mad Monk who is the Daddy to this mad bunch
The Mummy
Me - rest assured that I am one of those nice glittery vegetarian Twilight vampires - sadly you can't see how glittery I am in the photographs
My werewolf husband
Hmmm - not sure if a vampire/werewolf marriage is a good thing or not
My sisters
My brother and his wife (you can only join this family if you are a little bit crazy!!!)
The nieces and nephews -
Chloe and Amanda
Connor and Harry
Melissa - a very beautiful corpse bride
Other family members
And the reason for all this craziness, well my dear niece Milly was 21 last week but as she was away on her cruise she had a belated party on her return. She loves horror movies and so chose horror as the theme for the fancy dress.
My Mum did a wonderful job of altering Lucinda's wedding dress for Milly to wear - I loved the little attention to details including all the little spiders on the dress.

I'm going to have lots of fun doing some layouts with these photographs!!

Mega Christmas card making session part one
In the run up to my fundraiser I was really busy making Christmas cards and here is a small selection of some of the cards that I made -
All of the images are Penny Black stamps and the sentiments are a mixture of Personal Impressions, Hot off the Press, Penny Black and Cuddly Buddly. The snowflakes used are either Martha Stewart punches or Cuttlebug die cuts.
I have lots more to show and will save those for another blog post!!

Getting ready for Journal Your Christmas
I had a year off last year from taking part in Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas. Last weekend Shimelle did some Christmas challenges and one of them was to prepare your journal. Last time I did a 6x6 album, this time I am incorporating JYC into my Document 2011 album - so each day will be a 6x4 pocket in that album apart from the 25th and 26th which will each get a 12x12 layout. I treated myself back in the summer to a pack of Websters Pages Sweet Treats papers with sticker sheets and matching alphabet stickers. At my last crop I matched the papers up to plain cardstock and have found some matching thickers in my stash.
I will save cutting my paper and cardstock up until the project gets underway, but I have made a title page to separate the Journal Your Christmas pages from the rest of my Document 2011.
I used the vellum sheet that was included in the pack of papers, distressed the edges and then handstitched it to kraft cardstock.

Gold and Presents
The Christmas theme this week at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is gold and presents.
It was a really difficult card to photograph as I had used gold mirri card for the card blank, the mats and snowflakes. I coloured the image with Promarkers and then glittered with gold stickles. The sentiment is Personal Impressions. The blue patterned paper is DCWV.

Patterned Paper Christmas Card
Another project for Shimelle's Christmas crafting blog event was to make something using a design cut from patterned paper.
I made a Christmas card using the Basic Grey Jovial range - I had a pile of scraps left from some Christmas layouts.
I cut out the bauble/foliage for each corner and then layered up the bottom left corner with an extra bauble for more dimension. The cut out images were lightly glittered with Stardust and Eucalyptus Stickles.
The sentiment is from a Stampin' Up set and I embossed it in gold on a Nestability mat.
