Birthday Princess

Here is another layout that I made for dear niece's album at the end of last year.

She went to Disneyland, Florida in 2012 and celebrated her 22nd birthday out there.

I think the paper is by 3 bugs in a rug, I know I bought it at a Sarah's Cards retreat several years ago.  The title uses foam Thickers and the flowers are by Prima.  The die cut butterfly is Cheery Lynn.

Happy Mother's Day xxx

This is the card that I have made for Mum

I used Penny Black stamp 'Love and Roses', Joanna Sheen ivy flourish die and matted the image using a nestability die and some doilies.  The flowers and butterflies are EK Success punches and the sentiment is by Stampin' Up.

I will be spoiling Mum later by cooking her a nice roast dinner xx

Going Dotty

The theme for this month's Scrapology card challenge is Going Dotty -
"to use polka dots and or circles on any type of card. So look at one or both elements and maybe introduce shaped cards, its over to you".

I've made this card for my Aunt's birthday - she loves cats and this is one of my all time favourite Penny Black stamps.
The paper comes from a very old Papermania stack, one of my very first scrapbooking purchases over 10 years ago.  It isn't very nice for scrapbooking with so I have been trying to use it on other projects - I swear this paper breeds as I have tried using it on cards, covering post it note pads, even wrapping presents with it but everytime I go to the paper holder I seem to have just as much paper in there as what I started with!!

I coloured the image with Promarkers and glittered the wings with Stardust stickles and the centre of the daily with yellow stickles for a bit of sparkle.  The sentiment is by Lilli of the Valley.

Whilst I had the yellow spotty paper out, I made a couple more cards using it -

This is one of my newest Penny Black purchases 'Playtime' - aren't those bears just so cute xxxx

There is still plenty of time to join in with the Scrapology card challenge as it doesn't close until 15th April.

Bah Humbug

The lovely Anita always teaches a Christmas layout in January and our layout was a variation of this page.

This is my take on it using three photographs -

The papers are by American Craft but I am not sure what range.  The title is cut using an X cut alphabet die - does anyone have any experience of using these in a Bigshot?  It took the addition of a lot of shims to get it to cut properly.

The photographs are from Christmas 2011, I bought Mr P a bah humbug santa hat as a joke as he always pretends that he hates Christmas.

Thank you Anita for another lovely class xx

Our Photobombing Faces

This is the lovely sketch for March over on the Scrapology blog

I used this photograph of myself and Mr P demonstrating our photobombing faces at my parent's 50th anniversary lunch.

The papers are from Bella Blvd's Birthday Boy collection.  The stars are from a SU set 'Simply Stars' and were stamped in Pumpkin Pie and Taken with Teal (a retired colour) ink.  I punched out the title using Martha Stewart Alphabet punches.

There is still time to take part in the challenge as it doesn't close till 5th April.  Thank you Scrapology for another fab sketch xx

Bobbing Robins - Beat the Christmas Rush

It is time to share the cards made for Sue's Beat the Christmas Rush.

I used some lovely Robin digistamps from Pink Petticoat, coloured them with either Promarkers or SU markers and then cut them out with square nestabilities, matting them and then mounting them onto square cards.  Very quick and easy to do as they didn't need sentiments as some of the digi-stamps come with a sentiment.

I made 8 in total, so another quick and easy card design to boost my total!!

My total of BTCR cards now stands at 20.

Iceland and Greenland Cruise

Sue from Me and Mine has set another sketch challenge, using this lovely sketch -

This is my take on the sketch and is the title page for our 2011 cruise to Iceland and Greenland.  I used some pretty old papers from October Afternoon 'Seaside'.
The title was done with a combination of Making Memories alpha stickers and foam Thickers.

This layout has sparked some fierce debate in Chez Parkhurst - Mr P was shocked and horrified to see that I had sliced up this photograph of the Black Watch and thinks it is a terrible thing to do!!!

You Make Life Sweet

Another card for the Penny Black and More March challenge 'So Sweet'.  It also qualifies for this month's challenge at Penny Black Saturday challenge which is 'Lace and Pearls'

The image is from T for transparent set 'Sweet and Cute'.  The stamped sentiment is from Hero Arts and the printed one is by Pink Petticoat.  The star paper is a magazine freebie and the lace & pearl stars are from my stash.

Meet the Morgans

I have a large backlog of stuff to blog but need to actually photograph some of it first, so thought I would share a layout done at the end of last year for dear niece's album.

This photograph was taken at her Mum's 40th birthday party a couple of years ago and she asked if I would use it for her album.

I have no idea of the brand of paper but it came from a huge stack purchased from QVC many years ago, I loved it as it had butterflies on it but the kit contained 6 sheets of each patterned paper so it has lasted me a long time.  The butterflies are co-ordinating stickers that were also in the kit and the flowers are Prima with punched Martha Stewart leaves.  The title is Naturally Serif, as Sizzlet alphabet.

Happy Birthday Lucinda x

Happy Birthday to my baby sister, here is the card I made for her -

The image is a stamp from Penny Black T for transparent set 'Sweet and Cute', which I coloured with Promarkers.  The papers are magazine freebies and the banner was made using Stampin' Up banner stamp and punch set.  Both the sentiments are from Pink Petticoat.

I am entering this card into this month's challenge at Penny Black and More at Allsorts which is So Sweet.

Hope you have a lovely day Lucinda x

Week 5 - 52 cards challenge (Christmas Crackers)

The challenge for week 5 of 52 cards was a prompt one -

For my Christmas cards, I made a background using Distress inks, overstamped the background with a snowflake swirl stamp from Penny Black and then highlighted parts of the swirls with small gemstones.

The sentiments are by Penny Black and Crafty Impressions and I added some Stardust Stickles to the snowflakes for some extra bling.

Week 5 - 52 cards challenge

Week 5 of the 52 card challenge was a prompt challenge -

Using a Kaisercraft butterfly stamp and a stamp from the SU Gorgeous Grunge set I made four cards

Two with a pink background and two with a yellow background

The sentiment is from Penny Black T for transparent set 'Eloquence' and I lightly highlighted the butterflies with Stardust Stickles.

One Photo and Twenty Words

It is the 9th of the month so time to link up with Abi from Creating Paper Dreams and share one photo and twenty words.

What fun having a ball to attend in deepest, darkest, gloomy February.  A rare chance to get all glammed up!

Now you see me, Now you don't

Fiona from Staring at the Sea chose the February sketch for the Sketchy Scrappers group.

I don't have any instagram photos so cut down two 6x4 photos instead.

I used papers from First Edition 'Boho Chic' collection, a Prima script stamp and a Paperartsy ink stain stamp (thank you Wendy for the loan of - I have now added this stamp to my collection LOL!!).
The lace border is a sticker that I found in my box of 'bits that might be useful one day' and the hearts were cut with a SU embosslit die.  The letters are punched with a Martha Stewart alphabet punch and I coloured the doily with a Satin Promarker as it was too white up against the other papers.

The photos are of dear niece - when she use to stay at our old flat, she was small enough to curl up inside of Mr P's PC cover LOL!!

Thank you Fiona for finding us this lovely sketch xx

Pay it Forward - 1st gift sorted!!

At the beginning of January I signed up to a Pay it Forward challenge on Facebook - basically I agreed over the course of this year to make something for the first five people who commented on the status and they in turn had to make the same offer.

So this is the first gift that I have made so far and it has gone to one of my Flylady friends.

I made a set of notecards in their own box, each card has a different image and sentiment.

All the images are different Penny Black 'T for transparent' stamps and the sentiments are from Personal Impressions.

I stamped directly onto the card and then coloured the images with Promarkers, I also highlighted them with a little bit of glitter.

And the good news is my first recipient really liked them - I now need to come up with something for the other people

February 2014 - My Month in Numbers

It is time to join in again with Julie Kirk's My Month in Numbers

Finally the announcement of the dates for next year's Marillion conventions was made, so I now have some countdowns for next year.  Only 381 days to the European convention in the Netherlands and 402 days to the UK convention.  My other countdown is to my big birthday in August only 177 days to go.

2 pieces of happy post -

1 lovely pendant for Valentine's day to always remind me of my love of the sea - beautifully handcrafted by the Tartan Trout.

1 beautifully wrapped parcel containing 1 lovely tshirt from Dash which I had won in a Facebook giveaway (and yes I have carefully saved that beautiful ribbon!!)

Craftwise I have been fairly busy making 1 bracelet, 4 layouts, 10 Christmas cards and 12 other cards

I have also been busy baking and made 2 batches of cookies, 1 Victoria sandwich cake, 1 coffee cake and 1 Dundee cake ready for 2 get-togethers in March - thank goodness for a large chest freezer.

I'm back in the swing of things with blogging again and managed to notch up 16 blog posts

The big highlight of February was the ball held for the families that are helped by the charity that I volunteer with.  Over 200 people enjoyed the evening which included a lovely 3 course meal, entertainment from the Pentacle drummers, a Lady GaGa impersonator and disco, plus mingling with Captain Jack Sparrow and Disney princesses.

So that rounds up my February - if you want to join in with Month in Numbers then find out how right here

Fright Night

This is an old layout from last year - it was done for a weekly challenge on UKS but for the life of me I can't remember what the challenge criteria were LOL, but a sketch might have been involved.

The photographs are from dear niece's horror themed party that she had for her 21st birthday party.  Dear niece went as the corpse bride and dear sister as a very cute witch.  The papers are a mixture of Bella Boulevard and Echo Park Halloween themed papers and Bazill cardstock.  For some reason my mats look incredibly squiffy in this photo but they are perfectly straight irl.

Reindeer Teds - Beat the Christmas Rush

Week 6 of the 52 cards challenge was to use mainly items from the same collection pack.  I rarely ever buy whole collections of stash but I did have a 6x6 pad with a stamp from the same collection (Forever Friends - Kraft Notes).

These are also my cards for February's Beat the Christmas Rush

I coloured the images with Promarkers, cut them out and then mounted them on an embossed circle of card.

The sentiment stamps are by Kaisercraft.
