Blogtober Day 17 - Memorandum Monday

It is still Monday so time to link up with Sian over at From High in the Sky to share about the weekend.

It was a bitty weekend, apart from one plan we had nothing much organised so we did a bit of this and a bit of that - the weather was bitty too, one minute lashing down with rain, the next it was blue skies and sunshine - it couldn't make up it's mind what to do!!

The highlight of the weekend was going with my Mum to the cinema to see the 25th anniversary show of Miss Saigon - it was one of those one off live theatre screenings and our first time of seeing one.  I was very impressed, it did have the feel of being at the theatre, we were even given a programme on the door instead of the usual 'ugg' that you get from the teen doing the door.  There was an interval and everyone clapped and cheered at the end, just as if we were at the theatre.  The camera work was stunning, you would never see it that close up even if you were in the front row.  I saw Miss Saigon 24 years ago when it was just over a year into its West End run - it reduced me to a blubbering mess then and it still does!!

Today we went over to Rye to visit an uncle who is in respite care at the cottage hospital there.  As hospital visits go it was really good.  Uncle was very chirpy and chatty and before we knew it, four hours had flown by.  Hopefully he will be able to get home soon.  A quick pub stop for a meal on the way home and that was basically the day gone.

It was also a weekend of no photographs, so rather than leave this blog post photoless I will share a baby card that I made last week.

The bear stamp is a new one from Stampin' Up and is a three step stamp - I used Mint Macaron (stamped off once), Pool Party and Bermuda Bay.  The background was embossed with a SU embossing folder and the sentiment is from the bear stamp set.

Blogtober Day 16 - Confetti Love

Another layout from last year's ATDML Disney themed cybercrop.

This challenge was called CINDERELLA and you had to use stitching on a layout.  I combined the challenge with this sketch from the Sketchy Scrappers group.

I used a photograph taken at the end of last year's Marillion UK convention.

The papers used are Fancy Pants 'Trendsetter' and Pebbles 'Seen & Noted'.

The stamps used for the embellishments are by American Crafts and Personal Impressions.

Blogtober Day 15 - Gorgeous Grunge Birthday

Last year for Beat the Christmas Rush I made these cards and at the same time I made some Birthday cards on the same theme.

The stamped background is made using stamps from Stampin' Up 'Gorgeous Grunge' and the flowers are punched using SU flower punches.

Colours used are Blushing Bride, Smoky Slate and Melon Mambo

The sentiment is from SU 'Sassy Salutations'

The butterfly punch is by Martha Stewart

The other colour combo was Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay

Blogtober Day 14 - Play

Another blast from my scrapping past - I did this class for last year's ATDML Disney inspired cybercrop.   There was a little bit of messiness involved as it was a Katherine Sutton class and the page was inspired by Peter Pan and not growing up.

You needed to use a silly photograph for the class so I chose this one from the end of last year's UK Marillion convention.

The papers used are MME Miss Caroline 'Fiddlesticks' and Simple Stories Homespun.

I used Pumice Stone Distress Paint and I coloured cream Thickers with a Mustard Promarker.

Blogtober Day 13 - a 50th Birthday minibook

Whoops I went away and forgot to schedule some blog posts - never mind I still have time to do four blog posts this week and not fail with my Blogtober challenge!!

This is the mini book that I made for my sister's 50th birthday, using clear CD wallets as the page protectors.

I raided my Mum's photo albums for lots of school and holiday photographs

I used lots of papers that were kit leftovers and not large enough to use on 12x12 pages.

I used a mixture of die cut and punched butterflies to embellish the pages

The pages were joined together with eyelets set using the cropadile.

A big thank you to Anita aka the inky blossom for teaching this book many years ago at her monthly class, I have made quite a few albums since then.

Blogtober Day 8 - Antony

Another blast from the past and a layout made sometime last year - I know that I did it for a sketch challenge in the Sketchy Scrappers group but I just cannot find the sketch in my files so I am sorry I can't share that with you.

I am gradually scrapping the photographs of my 9 nieces and nephews Christening photographs.  This is our eldest nephew Antony and I notice now looking at the photograph that it is waiting to have the date added - I need to do that before I put it into an album!!

The papers are very old and are from a K&Co pad which I got as a free gift when I first subscribed to Scrapbook Inspirations magazine - sadly the cover has gone but I have a feeling the range was called Neapolitan.

The butterfly is a Cheery Lynn die cut and the title is Sizzix Naturally Serif alphabet.

Blogtober Day 6 - Happy 50th Birthday

This is the birthday card that I made for my sister's 50th birthday.  A big thank you to my friend Wendy who cut out all the shaped elements for me on her die-cutting machine.  I embossed some of the shaped numbers and then decorated with various stamped Penny Black images.

The patterned paper behind the 0 is from Craft Creations.  I coloured all the images in with Promarkers and highlighted parts with Stickles glitter.  The balloon was coated in glossy accents to make it lovely and shiny.

I further embellished it with organza ribbon and small stars punched with an EKSuccess border punch.
