Blogtober 2015 Day 7 - Getting Messy

I did this layout a while ago for a challenge set in the Sketchy Scrappers Facebook group for National Scrapbook Day.

This was the sketch from PageMaps

The other challenge criteria were to use stash that you don't like, use flowers and make your own embellishments.

I always loved the kits that we use to get from Sarah's Cards but just every now and then there would be a kit that just didn't do it for me and the February 2012 kit was one of those.  It was based around Authentique 'Splendid' and I'm not sure why but think it might be the texture and thickness of the papers that I didn't really like.  So I grabbed this as my unloved stash and found this photo from our annual crafty getaway to Hereford.  The photo was perfect to use with the sketch with all it's ink splats as this is me getting messy with Brushos.  I don't usually like doing messy crafts but Sy brought her Brushos with her so I could have a play with them.  They are great fun and I have already shared the cards that I made with the backgrounds that I did that weekend.  Anyway Lee grabbed this photo of me working under the close eye of Sy.

I made the flowers using a retro flower punch and a Tim Holtz leaf die.  I stamped the ink splats using a stamp from the Stampin' Up set 'Gorgeous Grunge'.  I also made my own foam Thickers using Sizzlet alpha' die 'Naturally Serif'.  I've also been colouring a doily again - the white was too stark with the cream based papers so I warmed it up using a Ivory Promarker.

Blogtober 2015 Day 6 - A whole load of cat cards

I love the Penny Black cat character that features in so many of their critter sets.  This one from T for transparent set 'Stuck on You' is great for male cards.

The 'Purrfect Day' sentiment is from another Penny Black set called 'In The Garden' and the papers are magazine freebies.

This one is more feminine and from T for Transparent set 'Critter Time'

The sentiment is from Wild Rose Studio, the flowers are by Prima and the image was coloured with Promarkers.

I definitely think the cat is my favourite of all the critters, I have recently got some new Christmas stamps so looking forward to colouring him/her getting up to festive antics!!

Blogtober 2015 Day 5 - Me on Monday

It's Monday again so time to give a big wave to Sian over at From High in the Sky and report on my weekend.

It was a weekend of thank you card making, local theatre visiting to see Micheal Palin and first Sunday of the month cropping at Cardinal Colours.

Monday finds me unpacking my three weekly Avon delivery, starting to sort everything out for my Open House Avon fundraiser next month and doing charity paperwork.

Wishing everyone a great week and if you want to join in, just share about your weekend & Monday and then go and say hi to Sian!!

Blogtober 2015 Day 4 - 12 hour crop

I did this layout a couple of months ago for a weekly challenge on UKS but can't find the challenge criteria now.  I am pretty sure that there was a sketch involved!!

I used some photographs from a 12 hour crop that we had attended earlier in the year organised by Cardinal Colours.

The background paper is Basic Grey Wisteria and the butterflies were diecut using All Occasion Dies that I was lucky enough to win from a challenge on the Penny Black and More blog.

The 12 hour crops are always great fun and a chance to meet up with crafty ladies that don't come to our regular smaller crop.  Plus we get fish and chips for our supper - so a really great day out!!  A big thank you to Jill for organising them for us.

Blogtober 2015 Day 3 - Stamposaurus Narrowboat

A recent crafty purchase is this lovely narrowboat stamp from Stamposaurus, which I coloured with Promarkers.

The sentiment is Stampin' Up and the punched mats are also from SU.

Blogtober 2015 Day 2 - Herm

Day 2 of Blogtober and I am sharing a layout made at my August scrap class.  This time Anita had a lovely layout for us just using Bazill cardstock - not a scrap of patterned paper in sight.

I used some photographs from our 2013 trip to Guernsey and a lovely day trip over to the beautiful island of Herm.  The swirls were die cut and the sunflowers were made using Woodware daisy punches and punched circle centres which I coated with glossy accents.

The sides of the cardstock were punched with a Martha Stewart deep edge lattice punch.

Thank you Anita for another lovely class.

Blogtober 2015 Day 1 - Penny Black 'Engineer'

Well it is day one of Blogtober, if you would like to join in, then just leave a link to your blog in this post.

I will kick off with some cards made with a favourite Penny Black cling stamp 'Engineer'.  Being married to a rail worker and having lots of railway buffs for family and friends, this stamp has definitely earned its keep in my collection.

Mr P's brother was 50 last month so this was the card that I made for him, the papers are from Wild Rose Studio and the sentiment is by Penny Black.  I used Thickers for the age.

I coloured in several images at the same time so made some other birthday cards using them.  I used Stampin' Up framelits to cut my image and then traced round the outside of the frame and handcut to make a mat.  The papers for the card below are by K&Co and the sentiment is Penny Black.

These cards used a rectangle stitched die from Memory Box, the papers are Basic Grey (?? Boxer, they are out of my scraps box) and the sentiment is by Hero Arts.

I used Promarkers to colour the stamp and added dots to the neckerchief with a white gel pen.
