WOYWW #286

It is Wednesday so it is time to hook up with Julia at Stamping Ground and share what is on my work surfaces.

At the weekend I dusted off the sewing machine to make some tissue pack covers following the lovely tutorial that Fiona at Staring at the Sea did back in the summer.  Even though my sewing machine skills aren't the greatest they were very easy to make - thank you Fiona for such a clear and easy to follow tutorial.  My ironing board was put up to provide an extra work surface to work from -

I made four to start with and have already ordered fabric to make some more for a Pass it Forward thingy that I am in.  I will definitely be making these for the fundraisers that I have planned for next year.

Today there is no crafting going on,  not on the dining room table or the laptray as I am busy in the kitchen making these for small Christmas gifts.

The baby Dundee cakes are made using this recipe, they freeze really well and will be ready for me to start gifting in December.

If you want to join in with WOYWW you can find out how to right here on Julia's blog

  4. Those tissue holders are lovely. Well done you! I've just looked at the tutorial and saved it. I'm going to try and buy some material. Difficult here as they do sell dressmaking materials here (on the market) but they are sold by the metre and that's too much.
The dundee cakes look scrumptious. I assume it's a fruit cake. What a great present!
Thanks for letting me look over your shoulder,
    Have a good week,

  6. Love the tissue covers. What great gifts they will make - as will those gorgeous looking cakes! Thanks for your visit and your nice comment. I've more or less planned the final 2 signatures of the book and am optimistic that I can finish in time!

    Happy WOYWW,

  8. The tissue holders would indeed make perfect fund raisers.

We made a big Dundee cake at the weekend, but I do love the idea of the little ones for gifts. I bet they'll go down a treat

  9. Well done on getting the sewing machine out, the tissue covers look fab - as do the cakes! Better hang on to the 'tins' though because they now come in a different size :-(

  10. Hello Karen,

Your tissue holders are great! It doesn't look like your sewing skills are rusty at all!

As for the mistle toes tags.... socks are a great idea but I was going to put them on nail polish for my niece and some co-workers. Definitely like the sock idea though.

Thank you for visiting me already! Happy belated WOYWW

  11. The covers are a great idea and look lovely - must go on the 'to do' list for next year! I love the dundee cakes - I made mini Christmas ones one year, using empty food tins for the cases, and was very happy with the result. Have a lovely, crafty week. Chris # 8

  13. Thanks for your visit to my desk last week. I'm way late with my woyww-visits (due to the 'open atelier' deadline and all...) but at least I made it here before the next Wednesday ;) The tissue-covers look amazing! It would also be nice to use them for pens..I love the different looks they have with different fabric. Great job! Hug from Holland, Marit #38
