I made my first batch of mince pies this week and that got me thinking about the couple of layouts that I have done in the past about my mince pies. I have always called them Cheat's Mince Pies as I use frozen pastry and for the mincemeat I buy the cheapest available and zoosch it up with the addition of cranberries, glace cherries and a generous glug of Cointreau!!
These are the ones that I made on Tuesday and they have passed the Mr P taste test!!
They first featured in my 2009 Journal your Christmas book -
And in 2010 I did a full size layout about them for Scrap Like You Mean It
I used a Sarah's Cards kit - I think the papers might be Cosmo Cricket
Love the LO with the circular text. They do look like CC papers. I usually spruce up a jar of mincemeat with some extras too. Not Cointreau though. I had a very bad experience with that many years ago!
ReplyDeleteI make mine with frozen pastry too, though round here they are known as "zippies" because the filling leaks out, the top and bottom separate a little bit and the gap looks like the moth on Zippie that character from the 70's children's programme "Rainbow"
ReplyDeleteI do hope Mr P leaves us enough for the December crop LOL
ReplyDeleteI also add a little something extra too, to shop bought mince meat :)
