Blogtoberfest 2014 Day 22 - WOYWW #281

It is Wednesday therefore it means it is time to fess up and show off the clutter that is on the dining room table.  I do promise you that I do clear this away when we need to eat - can be a right pain sometimes, but apart from my laptray it is the only work space that I have.

So on the dining room table I have some panels of silver cardstock that I have embossed and a pile of diecut snowflakes - they are for the Christmas cards that I have made for this month's Beat the Christmas rush and I will share them on the 25th.  In the background is my laptop - I often listen to crafty podcasts or watch videos on Youtube whilst crafting.  And the mug is my favourite Marillion one that I love to drink peppermint tea from.  At the front left are my Perfect Layers tool - my most used crafting tool - so much so that I have just treated myself to the larger size for scrapbooking.

And on my laptray I have -

Some Christmas cards that are a work in progress plus a pile of papers ready for other cards that I'm making.  These scissors are my favourite - they are Fiskars and have lovely large handles (I struggle with scissors as I have arthritis in my hands and my hands often lock onto the scissors with small handle), despite the large handles the blades have very fine tips and are brilliant for fussy cutting, I would be devestated if anything happened to these or I lost them as Fiskars don't seem to make them anymore.

If you want to join in or take a peek at other desks then head over to Julia's blog

  1. I've never heard of a perfect layers tool - I like the sound of that!

You have good discipline..when I fill up the table, I just start stacking it on the floor as well..

  2. The cards are going to be lovely, Karen. Maybe I should just have the dining table - I might be a bit more organised. Or, more likely, we'd have to use lap trays to eat off!! Happy WOYWW, Chris # 3

  4. Hi Karen, thanks for visiting. Woodware told me there was a faulty batch a while back so your friend should contact them! They seemed suprised that my recent ones were faulty as I bought them from Sir Stampalot and not a little local shop.
I love your scissors, and as my hands are quite stiff and have been known to lock, shame they aren't making them now.
I think I am going to have to buy the Perfect Layers tool, it does look good for when I don't have dies the exact size that I need to layer stuff.
Well done on the Christmas card production, your embossing looks good.

  5. Loving the look of that little pile of snowflakes. Look forward to seeing them in use. Those scissors do look comfy. I like my Fiskars pair with strait handles, rather than "loops" if you know what I mean.

  6. Hi Karen, you do well to work in such limited spaces. I recently had to scrap on a laptray and was pleasantly surprised at how much I accomplished but I think that was in part due to not having access to this computer :) Thanks for your earlier visit. I think I only completed that Shimelle class because of being shut out of my craft room and working on that laptray :) Might have to have a couple of computer free days each week and get even more done! Have a great week. Elizabeth x #68

  7. Oh, my goodness, you are enabling me again! A Perfect Layers tool! I have wondered about that, but if you use it with an exacto knife, I am terrible with them! :) Thank you for help last week with doing a comment in the comment box. It was really helpful! #77

  8. The small cutting tool on your mat is one of my favorite go-to tools as well. Do love those scissors. The card on your lap desk is very cute! Diane #80

  9. I didn't know what a Perfect Layers tool was. I googled it and watched a tutorial. That is very useful. I might have to get one of those. I struggle and waste a lot of time measuring etc. Thanks for mentioning it.
Sorry for being late commenting. I got as far as 68 yesterday. Today I hope to visit everybody.
Thank you for letting me have a peep of your workspace.
    Have a good week

  10. Lovely post, Karen. I love those beautiful mirror cards all embossed! They look so rich. Also your beautiful scissors - my Tim Holtz scissors have lovely handles like that but of course they are not so fine. You are the only other person I've ever come across who's got the Perfect Layers ruler set. I am better at matting and layering than I was so don't tend to use them quite so much, but they are great if you want a very narrow mat and need it to be 100% accurate for a good sharp clean look.

Thank you for your nice comment, and I'm glad you like all my various projects! Sorry to hear Mr. P is poorly - I am sure with your TLC and some of Bridget's Winter Lurgie Busting remedy he will soon be on the mend! I'm enjoying mine, and hoping it will keep the lurgies at bay.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
